Army Institute of Nursing, Guwahati was established in the year 2006 under the aegis of Army Welfare Education Society for the wards of serving and ex-servicemen of Indian Army with an annual intake of 50 students for B.Sc Nursing course and 20 students for M Sc Nursing course per year. As a welfare measure, towards people residing in North East Region, 10% seats are reserved for the civilian students (girls) who are domicile of seven North East States.

About the B.Sc Nursing Course and Seat Availability
(b) For civilian students from the North Eastern States – 05
The students who are declared PASS in all four years of University examinations will be
registered with Assam Nurses Midwife’s and Health Visitors’ Council, Assam as Registered Nurse and Midwife on payment of necessary fees. The students will also become eligible for Life Membership with Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI) on payment of necessary fees
Admission Criteria for B.Sc Nursing
Admission to the first year B Sc Nursing degree course at Army Institute of Nursing, Guwahati will be on the basis of merit of the candidates (female children of serving regular Army personnel and regular Army pensioners, war-widows/widows of Army from all over India and civilian female students from the North Eastern States) in the Written Admission Test (WAT) conducted by HQ AWES, New Delhi for the year 2018. Candidates are informed that AIN is an AWES Institution and therefore, admission to AIN DOES NOT automatically guarantee selection to Military Nursing Service. However, AIN management organizes Campus Interviews by renowned Hospitals located at major metros for campus placements.
Educational Qualification for B.Sc Nursing:
No candidate shall be allowed to be admitted to the nursing curriculum of the Bachelor of
Nursing (BSc Nursing) course until she has passed the qualifying examination as a regular candidate in the first attempt (Those who have repeated the XII Std/ have given supplementary examination in any subject and students who have passed XII as private students or from the open board are not eligible). Details are as under:-
(a) The Higher Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which
is equivalent to 10 + 2 Higher Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years of study, the last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry, Biology / any other elective subjects with English at a level, not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council for Educational Research and Training after the introduction of the 10+2+3 years the educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education.
(b) The Intermediate examination in science of an Indian University / Board or the
recognized examining body with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology which shall include a
practical test in these subjects and also English as a compulsory subject.
(c) The pre-professional / pre-medical examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology,
after passing either the higher secondary school examination or the Pre University or an
equivalent examination. The pre-professional/premedical examination shall include a practical test in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and also English as a compulsory subject.
(d) The first year of the three years degree course of recognized university with Physics,
Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in three subjects provided the examination is a“University Examination” and candidate has passed 10+2 with English at a level not less than a core course.
(e) BSc examination of an Indian University provided that she has passed the BSc examination with not less than two of the following subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology) and further that she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.
(f) Any other examination which, in scope and standard is found to be equivalent to the
Intermediate Science Examination of an Indian University Board, taking Physics, Chemistry, and Biology including practical test in each of these subjects and English.
Minimum Aggregate: Candidate must have passed the qualifying examination in the first
attempt with a minimum of 50% marks each in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.
Candidates who have appeared in the 12th Class or equivalent examination are also provisionally eligible to apply and appear in the Entrance Examination. However, their candidature will be considered only if they provide documentary evidence of having passed the qualifying examination with the required subjects and percentage of marks at the time of counseling or admission. Candidates with compartmental papers/ Supplementary paper(s)/ Repeater/ Private in class XII are not eligible for admission to B. Sc Nursing course. Gap Certificate, in case the time gap between 10th & 12th the class is more than two years, from concerned School/College that candidate passed senior secondary examination in the First Attempt as a regular student.
Age Limit: The candidate should not be less than 17 years and not more than 22 years as on 31 December 2018. The date of birth recorded in Secondary Education Board (Class X Certificate) only will be taken as authentic. Upper age limit is extendable to not more than 25 years of age as on 31 Dec 2018 for the candidate holding B Sc degree with at least two subjects out of Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology and has passed the remaining subjects in the intermediate or equivalent examination.
Physical Fitness: The candidates should be certified by MO of Military Hospital/Authorised Medical Practitioner of a Govt hospital to be in a state of good physical and mental health to pursue the course. A certificate to this effect on the enclosed form is required to be submitted by the candidate. (Submit Certificate No 4).
Selection Procedure: Candidates will be selected on the basis of Written Admission Test
Written Admission Test
The entrance test for AIN Guwahati will be held as Written Admission Test (WAT) and will be conducted by HQ AWES, New Delhi. The paper will be of 2 hours duration. Students will apply directly to AIN, Guwahati in the Application Form provided with this prospectus. Admit cards will be issued to students directly by AIN, Guwahati.

Syllabus for the Examination
The general standard of the entrance examination will be that of 11th and 12th class under the 10+2 scheme i.e. Botany (25 Marks), Zoology (25 Marks), Physics (25 Marks), Chemistry (25 Marks), English (10 Marks) and General Awareness (10 Marks) or an equivalent examination of the State Education Board/Indian University /CBSE.

The Admit Card for WAT will be sent to the candidates by e-mail (candidates should write valid e-mail id in the application form) and Registered Post at the address given by them on the envelope provided with the application form. Candidate should affix postage stamps (Rs 41.00) on the envelope of Admit Card and write their address clearly. All candidates should normally receive the Admit Card by the First week of May 2018. If any candidate fails to receive the Admit Card by the above date, she should inquire on the telephone from the office of Principal/Registrar AIN Guwahati by giving the Application No, full name, address and place of examination as mentioned in the Application Form.

How to Apply for Army Institute of Nursing Guwahati B.Sc Nursing Admission 2018
Application Form is enclosed with this prospectus. Application form duly completed in all
respect along with required documents must reach Principal AIN, Guwahati within the dates specified below (The address is printed on the envelope).
